Former Nominated MP Maina Kamanda has revealed that president Uhuru Kenyatta should carry the most significant blame for Azimio's loss in the August 9 presidential poll.

According to Kamanda, Uhuru's character and hubristic nature led to the fall of Raila Odinga's bid, and subsequent handing of victory to the rival side.

He described the Head of State as a leader who did not listen to divergent views from either his close allies or elders.

"We were unable to win because Uhuru is Mr. Know It All as he does not take any advice from elders. It's either his way or the highway. That's where our calculations went wrong," he told KTNNews.

The former Nominated Member of Parliament noted that this created a loophole for president-elect William Ruto to edge his way into the country's top seat.

"Please inform the president that the country decided, you were the head of Azimo, when the leader limps, the flock does not reach the pasture."

The Azimio la Umoja coalition proponents had expressed confidence in Uhuru ensuring a resounding victory for the Raila-led coalition.

While on the campaign trail, the politicians claimed that Uhuru was the missing piece of the puzzle in Raila's ascension to the top throne- due to his influence in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region.

However, as soon as the dust settled in the August 9 poll, some of the politicians questioned why the Head of State did not protect Raila's votes.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta you must act now or was this a long con? Baba has won the elections just to protect his win. What’s the point of Kenyans voting if we rig out the winner?" Embakasi East MP Babu Owino claimed.

The fate of the close allies of both Raila and Uhuru remains unknown as the Kenya Kwanza coalition is set to take over the government for the next five years.
