Chief Justice Martha Koome's family has been one of her anchors as she was the focal point in the presidential petition at the Supreme Court.
As Koome enjoys an illustrious law career, rising from a women's rights activist to a Supreme Court judge and the president of the apex court, her children pursued different career paths to build their own success
The 62-year-old CJ is married and has three children, a son Kelvin Koome, and two daughters, Kagwiria Koome and Nkirote Koome.
For Kagwiria, her vast experience in different sectors such as health, agriculture, ICT, and governance sector, has earned her a senior role in USA's multinational organisation; The Rockefeller Foundation.
The foundation deals with promoting the well-being of humanity throughout the world through innovation, science, and technology to mitigate some of the global challenges.
Currently, Rockefeller has provided over Ksh2.6 trillion to program initiatives worldwide.
At the foundation, Kagwiria manages the food initiative sector, as per her LinkedIn page, with a key focus on incorporating systems to deliver nutritious foods while preserving the environment.
Currently, in her eighth year at the foundation, Kagwiria has harnessed her skills in different roles including strategy development, conducting policy analysis, and evaluations.
She also conducts qualitative surveys and institutional assessments among others.
In an article titled Let’s Collect and Preserve the Advice of Experts published on The Rockefeller Foundation, Kagwiria says that she draws her inspiration from her father, an agriculture extension officer.
"He worked largely with smallholder farmers in central Kenya to provide agronomy support. When I began working on the YieldWise initiative, I went to him for counsel. While speaking to him and other experts, I realized that they had a wealth of information that remained with them instead of gathering together in a single place and reaching the community," she stated.
She thus worked towards developing a toolkit to ensure experts access resources and guidance to help advise them on decision-making, and that future investors can also leverage The Rockefeller Foundation’s research.
"Two areas I am passionate about are the how-to guides that offer the steps to build technologies such as the charcoal cooler and zero energy cooling chambers, and the section on communication that includes training materials and messaging that can be used in various ways," she added.

Before joining the Rockefeller Foundation in September 2014, she worked as a management consultant, advising development institutions and governments on strategy planning, program design and investment across the continent.
Kagwiria holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the United Kingdom's Keele University and a Master’s in International Development from the University of East Anglia, in Norwich, England.
