Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua shifted from his usual official look to a new classy design while on board a Kenya Air Force plane to Kisumu on Friday, September 23.
The DP wore a designer shirt which elicited mixed reactions from a section of Kenyans online who argued whether it was Gucci or Versace.
He also matched the shirt with fitting trousers which deviated from his normal baggy trousers trend. Gachagua then complemented his look with black sunglasses and posed for photos with a huge smile on his face.
To top up his appearance, he wore classy shoes that resembled oxford designs comprising a mixture of faux, calf and genuine patent leather.
However, Kenyans on Twitter could not keep calm with Gachagua's new classy look, Many of them praised the DP for his new style.
"Riggy G to the World," Jaycee posted.
Another one posted "Alaa! Man Rigi amepiga looku," the Black Jew posted.
In as much as the photographer takes much credit, Gachagua's poses embodied a perfect public appearance training. One would have mistaken him for a local hip-hop star.
The DP was accompanied by Kenya Kwanza leaders among them women representatives Linet Toto (Bomet) and Njeri Maina (Kirinyaga) and former Kakamega senator, Cleophas Malala.
He was received by Education CS George Magoha and Kisumu governor, Anyang' Nyong'o at Kisumu International Airport on his first visit to the lakeside city.
Gachagua is expected to grace the Gala Awards for the 94th Kenya Music Festival at Kisumu Girls High School. The Kenya Music Festival made a comeback after two years of a break due to the pandemic.
The DP recently assured Kenyans that he will transform his look within three months, saying he was aware that his fashion sense was a debatable subject.
Speaking in a media interview during a workout session, Gachagua stated that he intended to dress well, attributing his poor dressing to intensive campaigns.
“People have raised questions about how I dress, but I want to tell them that I had no luxury to think about dressing. I was caring about my life, and staying safe. But now that it is all over, in another three months, people will like what they see,"
He also hit the gym to reduce his weight by around 10Kgs from 94 to around 84Kgs.
