Bungoma governor, Kenneth Lusaka, recalled witnessing the late Baringo deputy governor, Charles Kipng'ok, pass away at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Saturday, September 24.

Lusaka was among the passengers waiting to board the plane that was heading to Mombasa for the governors' induction.

During the funeral service of the late politicians on Saturday, September 24, the former senator recalled that they were asked to be patient and bear with the airport authorities as they attended to a passenger who had collapsed.

He only came to learn later that his friend had died after he boarded the plane.

"I witnessed when he collapsed. We were just getting onto the plane when we were told to wait. We did not know it was such a serious incident and that we had lost a colleague," Lusaka recounted.

Additionally, Nandi governor, Stephen Sang, who was also on the same plane recalled the unfortunate incident.

Others were Embu governor, Cecily Mbarire, and her Machakos counterpart, Wavinya Ndeti. The two sent their condolence messages to the family.

"Wavinya Ndeti was there while Kipng'ok was being treated but she did not know he was a deputy governor. It was when we returned to the plane that we were informed of his death,” Sang stated.

The funeral service held at Solian Girls High School, Eldama Ravine Baringo was attended by several leaders including deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

"We are saddened by the death of the DG, It is sad he passed on without serving the good people of Baringo. May the Lord comfort you during this difficult time," the DP mourned.

Gachagua also read a condolence message from President William Ruto who eulogized Kipng'ok as an industrious leader

"It is with grief and a deep sense of loss that I send this message of condolence. Words can not convey the magnitude of the loss. Charles was a great leader and a well-oriented man," the President stated.

"Socially he was an outgoing person and a distinguished role model to many. He served his community cheerfully and generously," the condolence message added.
