KTN News is on the bleeding edge after one of its senior anchors, Aby Agina, departed for a bigger role and the multi-national station CNBC Africa.

The news was first shared by the station's Rwanda country manager Eugene Anangwe - the former CEO of TV47 and founder of Look Up TV.

Agina, who just joined the station, will serve as a senior anchor and producer at CNBC Africa.

Anangwe welcomed the station's new addition at the outlet's East African headquarters studios with a warm message.

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. I add if you want to even go further, build a team."

"Welcome to the team at CNBC Africa East Africa hq in the 2nd fastest growing economy in Africa; Kigali, Rwanda my brother Abiy Agina," stated Anangwe.

Agina has enjoyed a storied career since he kicked off in 2010 as an information officer at the Kenya Red Cross.

He, however, formally joined Nation Media Group (NMG) as a senior business journalist in 2011 where he spent three years.

He later transitioned to Standard Group where he began as a senior business anchor on KTN and rose up the ranks to become the acting business editor.

In 2021, he was named the deputy group economic affairs editor, a position he held for two years until his recent departure.

Agina pursued a degree in Information Science at Moi University, Eldoret, where he majored in Media and Publishing Studies before landing a job as an intern at NMG.

He always had an interest in media since he was aged three years by reading articles in newspapers in the 1980s.
