Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made a special tribute to Bomet Woman Representative Linet 'Toto' Chepkorir while introducing her to Rwanda.

Speaking on Thursday, October 13, during the Africa Youth Connekt Africa Summit, Gachagua defined Toto as a miracle after her election to the National Assembly.

"I came with one of the miracles of the country, a little young girl. She is 24 years old and is the Woman Rep of Bomet county and defeated mature, experienced women.

"She is Linet 'Toto' which translates to the young one," Gachagua stated.

The DP explained that his boss, William Ruto, entrusted the youth with key dockets in the country and leadership positions in Parliament to demonstrate faith in them.

"In the August 9 election, the people of Kenya indicated in a very strong statement their faith and belief in the young people. 33 per cent of the members are below the age of 35.

"Sylvanus Osoro who is the Majority Chief Whip in the National Assembly is a youth and so is Ndindi Nyoro who will chair the Budget and Appropriation Committee," Gachagua stated.

Other MPs who accompanied Gachagua were Patrick Munene (Chuka/Igambang'ombe), Reuben Kiborek (Mogotio), Mohammed Ali (Nyali), Kamena Njoki (Bahati), Vincent Kawaya (Mwala), John Paul Mwirigi (Igembe South), Ken Aramat (Narok East), Josses Lelmengit (Emgwen),  Karungo and Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang'wa.

Gachagua called upon the youth in Africa to lead their agenda in their respective countries by striving to sit at the decision-making table.

"You have what it takes to take this continent to the next level, and age is on your side. You have the energy, passion, zeal, and brains to turn around this continent, he stated.

His comments were reiterated by the host, Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who stated that it was the mandate of the leaders to incorporate the youth into the development agenda.

"As leaders, we must do our part in recognizing that young people are equal partners in our development agenda.

"We know you have ideas on how to trade more effectively, build stronger health systems, conduct climate change, reduce inequality, and much more. We have a duty to listen to the youth and work with you," Kagame stated,

Kagame added that the path to solving Africa's problems will only be achieved through hard and smart work paired with discipline.
