Truth Behind Uhuru's Ksh2.7 Billion Narok Mansion

Social media was on Wednesday, October 19 awash, after photos surfaced online of a Ksh2.7 billion mansion linked to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, purporting to be his retirement home in Narok County. 

Speculations were strife of Uhuru settling in the 1,000-acre farm in Oloolmongi, Trans Mara. Kenyans online claimed that the mansion was situated at the heart of Maasai Mara. 

"Uhuru's new multi-billion home situated at the heart of Maasai Mara. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta opted in settling into his new life as a civilian at his 1,000-acre farm in Oloolmongi, Trans Mara, in Narok County," one user online captioned the photo.

A spot-check by Kenyans.co.ke revealed that the mansion belongs to Canadian ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky located in Thousand Oaks, California. The mansion has a price tag of Ksh2.7 billion.

A reverse check revealed that the photo was first used online in 2012 on www (dot) calgaryherald (dot) com as opposed to speculations online which insinuated that Uhuru recently purchased the house. 

The speculations ensued after recent photos showed Uhuru spending his retirement days in Narok. On Thursday, October 13, he made a reservation for ten people to have lunch at Zebu Lounge. 

"It was an ordinary reservation made for about 10 people and to our surprise, the former President and his entourage made a grand entry," one of the hotel staff indicated. 

In addition, he made a surprise visit to Partakilat Primary School, where he fulfilled a promise he made during his tenure as president by donating a 53-seater bus to the institution. 

Retirement home

Reports indicated that Uhuru is likely to settle in his retirement home in Transmara which he reportedly purchased from Olerien and Kengani group in 2020.

The ranch overlooks the Maasai Mara Game Reserve offering a unique view to tourists. The former president is also said to have set up a multi-billion tourist lodge on his other piece of land in the county.
