National Assembly deputy speaker, Gladys Boss Shollei, hired 100 lawyers to offer pro bono services to her county residents.

Shollei, on Wednesday, October 19, urged her constituents to visit the workshop that will be held at TAC Centre on Mashujaa Day, Thursday, October 20.

Among the cases that were given priority were land, trust, inheritance and succession disputes.

"Free legal services sponsored by Uasin Gishu woman representative, Gladys Boss Shollei," her poster announced.

Residents were advised to arrive early for case analysis before the event begins at 9 am.

Kenyans were quick to laud her for offering free legal aid at a time when the Judiciary, led by Chief Justice Martha Koome, is fast-tracking cases.

"Our women rep really working hard, We love you and appreciate your work," Manusette tweeted

However, others requested the two-time MP to include marriage, inheritance and divorce cases on her list.

Shollei has over two decades of experience in law. She was appointed as the chief executive officer of the National Council of Law Reporting after graduating from the University of Nairobi in 1991 with a Bachelor of Law and a Masters in Law from the University of Capetown.

In her capacity, she was credited with setting up the infrastructure for online publications of all laws in Kenya and digitizing all judgments since Independence.

She also served as the registrar of the Judiciary before her exit in 2013.

After the August General Election, Shollei was elected as deputy speaker of the National Assembly. President William Ruto rewarded her with the position after she acted as his agent at Bomas of Kenya during the tallying of the presidential votes.

Shollei also defended Ruto against Raila Odinga and Martha Karua's petition at the Supreme Court. The apex court upheld the head of state's victory, which Raila wanted to be nullified.
