New details have emerged regarding the search for the missing farmhand in the mysterious murder of Gladys Chania's husband whose body was found dumped in Kieni Forest in Gatundu North.

Close friends recalled the farmhand's final moments, revealing that Chania sent him to deposit some money to a mobile money shop. The farmhand used the main road to a nearby shop before he mysteriously vanished.

Reports indicated that the farmhand's disappearance came two days before the engineer's body was found in Kieni Forest.

"We have been friends with him for the time that he has worked for the deceased. The last time that I saw him was Friday when he was sent by Gladys Chania to deposit money at a mobile money shop. The moment he went to the shop, he never came back," a friend, who sought anonymity, stated.

Those close to the farmhand described him as a diligent worker who enjoyed a close working relationship with the late businessman. They added that the farmhand was the go-to person for the businessman's personal errands.

"The two enjoyed a close bond to the point that if the farmhand was fired, the boss would go look after him and hand him his job back," another neighbour stated.

Police are treating the farmhand as a person of interest as the farmhand had worked for his boss for five years. The close friends urged police to expedite the investigations to trace the farmhand's whereabouts as it could be the missing link to unravel the businessman's murder.

Chania, who is treated as the main suspect, was remanded for seven days to allow police to conclude investigations into the murder.

Appearing before Kiambu resident Magistrate Wilson Rading, she was ordered to remain in custody for seven days before being taken for mental assessment.

"The suspect will remain in police custody for seven days to enable police to complete the investigations into the murder. She will also be taken for mental assessment."

"Since this is a complex matter revolving around a murder case, I do direct that it be mentioned on October 24 for further directions," the judge ordered.
