Former Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance running mate, Martha Karua flew to London, United Kingdom to design a Global Black Women Executive Leadership Program alongside other global leaders.
In a statement on Thursday, October 20, Karua noted that the new program would identify talented black women leaders from around the world and connect them to the resources they need to come up with solutions.
Karua noted that the program was courtesy of the Commonwealth organisation and a non-profit company, Schmidt Futures.
"For the last two days, I have been with other leaders from across the continent designing a Global Black Women Executive Leadership Program courtesy of Schmidt Futures and the Commonwealth organisation."
"The new initiative will identify talented black women leaders from around the world and connect them to each other and to the resources they need to design and drive transformative solutions to complex problems," she noted.
Karua expressed delight in being accorded a chance to voice and share some of the challenges African women faced and solutions that can drive change in society.
" (I was) honoured to have had a chance to speak and share some of the complex challenges African women face and how to drive transformative change," the NARC-Kenya party leader stated.
The Azimio coalition has maintained a low profile in the recent past- as they strategize on how to keep President William Ruto's government in check.
Azimio leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, on Sunday, October 16, left the country for India on a ten-day visit.
"Baba has left the country for a week's visit to several nations starting with India; see you all when I’m back," he stated.
On the other hand, former president Uhuru Kenyatta, who doubles as the Azimio chairman, recently travelled to Nigeria to review the performance of the country's Cabinet. Among the issues Uhuru addressed included the intrigues behind handing over power to his successor, President William Ruto.
Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU-K) Secretary-General, Francis Atwoli also jetted out of the country for Cairo, Egypt where he graced the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) General Council.
On Thursday, October 20 during Mashujaa Day celebrations, only Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka from the opposition, attended the event.
