The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has acquired 50 state-of-the-art Volkswagen cars to help in its operations across the country.
In a statement by the motor dealer, DT Dobie Kenya, on Saturday, October 29, it was noted that the cars were acquired through a leasing plan.
The 50 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace SUVs were unveiled in Nairobi in an event overseen by officials from the investigative agency.
From the images shared, the cars - white and black- were already branded with government number plates.
"We are pleased to hand over 50 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace SUVs to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, which will help them in their crucial service to the public. In a joint leasing venture with RentCo Africa and Stanbic Bank.
"The leasing program will provide a cost effective ownership experience to DCI as it works to build its operational and logistical capacity," read the statement in part.
The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace German cars were launched in Kenya in 2021 by DT Dobbie and are estimated to cost from Ksh4.5 million to Ksh5.5 million.
Tiguan Allspace model has seven seats and a two-litre turbocharged 132-kilowatt engine.
"It has an engine mated with a seven-speed automatic transmission and features four Motion permanent four-wheel drive.
"There are two trim specifications to choose from with pricing starting from a very competitive 4.5 million (inc VAT) for the Trendline, and 5.5 million (inc VAT) for the Highline," the car dealer stated then.
The SUVs known for their sporty look have a four-camera that monitors the area around the vehicle and supplies useful views on the infotainment system screen.
