The Public Service Commission (PSC) has declared a vacancy for the position of Solicitor General previously held by Kennedy Ogeto.
In an advert published in the local dailies on November 1, PSC called on qualified Kenyans to apply for the key position in the office of the Attorney General.
Ogeto, a former President Uhuru Kenyatta's ally, was appointed to the position in 2018.
Notably, he represented the government in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) appeal filed at the Apex Court.
"Duties and responsibilities of this position will entail the accounting and implementing government policies and the strategic plan for the State Law Office.
"Also to be tasked with organising, coordinating and managing the administrative and legal functions of the office," read the advert in part.
The solicitor is also tasked with assisting the AG in performing his duties as the principal legal advisor to the government.
PSC indicated that Ogeto's replacement will serve for a period of five years.
Requirements
Suitable candidates must have a degree from a recognized university or be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
"The candidate should have at least 10 years experience as a distinguished academic or legal practitioner or such experience in other relevant legal fields.
"He or she should have demonstrable leadership and management capacity including knowledge of financial management and strategic people management creativity, innovativeness and problem-solving skills," read the notice in part.
PSC set November 14 as the deadline for the application process.
