Australian Govt Announces Kenyan Jobs With Ksh 2M Yearly Salary; How to Apply

On Monday, November 1, the Australian High Commission to Kenya announced vacancies for Visa procession officers. 

The contracted officers will earn a Ksh2 Million annual starting salary, an equivalent of Ksh166,000 per month, working 37.5 hours per week for 12 months. 

Selected applicants will work within the family migration section under the Home Affairs Department (Immigration and Border Protection section).

The exercise, meant to urgently fill non-ongoing fixed-term contracts of 12 months, accepts applications until November 12, 2022.

Qualifications 

  • Applicants were required to have tertiary experience in any relevant field.
  • Experience in an application processing environment and or working with refugees
  • Strong computer proficiency, especially in software applications.
  • Strong written and oral English language communication skills.
  • Have the ability to respond and adapt to change.
  • Show sensitivity to the needs of clients from various backgrounds and with varying needs.
  • Have high-developed time management skills and
  • Demonstrate analytical skills as well as the ability to work with a team

Your statement of claim ought to address each selection criterion in no more than 250 words per criterion.

In addressing each required criterion, indicate examples based on previous experience showing your capability.

The selection criterion the employer required included: 

Giving an instance when you interpreted and applied legislation, policies, and procedures to make a decision using sound evidence-based principles supported by research and analysis to prove your independence and decision-making skills. 

Providing an instance where you demonstrated a high level of oral and verbal communication to effectively communicate with clients from different backgrounds to prove you support productive working relationships for service excellence. 

Lastly, describe a situation where you've shown initiative and flexibility in answering uncertain demands to prove that you are result oriented. 

"Employment will be subject to satisfactory medical and police/security checks. The actual start date will be confirmed following the outcome of the police checks, which will be carried out in Kenya."
