The row between UDA Chairman, Johnson Muthama, and Ukambani leaders affiliated with Azimio widened after he set conditions for Makueni County governor Mutula Kilonzo.
Muthama was irked by Mutula Kilonzo's decision to distribute relief food in Makueni.
Mutula, according to his critic, should not get honours for distributing the food while still affiliated with Azimio.
His statement was in response to Mutula’s and Second Lady, Rigathi Gachagua, aiding hunger-ravaged residents in Kathonzweni, Makueni on Saturday, October 29.
According to Muthama, Mutula should change his political alliance should he want to continue distributing relief food.
“If Mutula wants to distribute relief food, let him confess that he has joined UDA and that he will support William Ruto.
"Should he refuse, then relief food distribution should be headed by James Mbaluka and other UDA stalwarts in the region," Muthama added.
The former Machakos senator spoke at a ceremony in Machakos where a section of local leaders endorsed him as Kamba kingpin.
Meanwhile, while distributing the relief food in Kathonzweni, Mutula thanked Dorcas Gachagua and also outlined measures his government had set to mitigate drought.
"We are going to provide every household with planting seeds in preparation for planting season," Mutula had promised.
He also added that the Makueni County government, in collaboration with the national government, would look for markets for locally grown fruits like mangoes and oranges.
"We are the largest producers of mangoes, we will find a market for that,’ he stated.
