A gang raided Kipasi Police Station in Homa Bay County and accessed the armoury before escaping with four guns.

The incident reportedly happened in the wee hours on Wednesday, November 16 night while a majority of the officers were not around the station.

Police launched a manhunt to recover the weapons even as concerns of insecurity in the county grow.

During the raid, the gang escaped with three G3 guns and one AK47 rifle.

They also escaped with over 100 rounds of ammunition.

Confirming the incident, area Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo called on the police to apprehend the suspects noting how daring gangs had become.

"It is worrisome that thieves can steal from a police armoury. This means citizens can no longer be safe. Indeed the alarming and increased incidents of violence in Suba North must be dealt with urgently.

I am nonetheless calling on the police not to victimize innocent people as they often do in the search for the real culprits," she stated.

Further reports indicated that a special team from the county headquarters was deployed at the scene to investigate circumstances regarding the night raid.

Officers on duty were questioned during the better part of Thursday, November 17 morning even as it was alleged that the armoury may have been left unattended to during the raid.

It is reported that the officer manning the station discovered that the key to the armoury was missing after the raid has already happened.

The incident came against the backdrop of rising cases of insecurity across the country that prompted the government to intervene.

In recent days, police have arrested various gang members in Nairobi and other parts of the country as they move to contain the situation.
