Tiger Brands, on Tuesday, November 22, appointed former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Polycarp Igathe as Chief Growth Officer for the rest of Africa and Zayd Abrahams.
Igathe was expected to assume his role in South Africa, effective December 1, 2022.
“I look forward to the diverse set of capabilities and knowledge of the continent that Polycarp will bring to driving the execution of our ambitious growth strategy for the Rest of Africa business and his broader contribution to the development and execution of the Tiger Brands business strategy,” a statement by the company read.
This new appointment marks Igathe's second return to the South African company that deals in marketing services.
Igathe previously served as its Managing Director in East Africa prior to joining the British petroleum company, Vivo Energy.
Tiger Brands Limited is a manufacturer of Fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).
The company majorly deals in manufacturing, marketing and distributing everyday branded food and beverages.
It also exports grains, consumer brands, home and personal care products.
Igathe brings to Tiger Brands strong commercial capability, sales and marketing, sales strategies and business leadership experiences.
The politician has held multi-geography leadership roles across Africa, having served at Coca-Cola, Kenya Breweries, Haco Industries Limited and Equity Bank.
Igathe also served as Deputy Governor of Nairobi before resigning to join the corporate world.
He contested for the Nairobi governor's seat but lost to United Democratic Alliance's Johnson Sakaja.
