2023 is here and as usual, the New Year is one of the most internationally recognized holidays. The common theme across many Kenyan homes on New Year's Day is usually a gratified goodbye to the previous year and a warm welcome to the beginning of the New Year.

Regardless of whether you are celebrating the New Year with your family, a few close friends, or thousands of strangers, there are different ways you can mark the New Year that will bring you memories to last a lifetime.

Host a Game Night

New Year’s Day does not have to be spent outside. So, whether you want to host a traditional board game night with Scrabble or you want to host a murder mystery party, a game night with friends and family is a fun and unique way to usher in the new year.

Basically, you only need to choose the style of game night you want to have, prepare some snack and drink options to have on hand for guests, and let it be game on!

What’s more, you can even make it a tournament and have prizes at the end. The laughter, opportunities, and competition will be endless.

Plan a DIY/Crafts Party

They say whatever you do on New Year is what you will end up doing for the most part of the year. Why not use this opportunity to then channel your creative energy and invite friends to do the same?

Find some craft projects online and on YouTube that can be created in a couple of hours and set up a workstation in your home. You can also use Pinterest as a great place to find fun and easy projects.

If you are hosting friends over, ask them to bring some supplies for the party and have a night filled with fun and learning. Probably, your entire year will be filled with creative imaginations that would transform your entire life!

Make a Vision Board

New Year provides you with an opportunity to reset and start over on many things. What better way to start the new year than with clear goals and aspirations? Starting the year right is the best way of giving yourself a chance at having a good year.

Therefore, spend the evening thinking about what you want for yourself, your education, your career, your relationships, and anything else in the year coming up, and manifest it by adding it to your vision board. Finish it off by hanging the vision board in a place where you will see it regularly

Make it even more fun by inviting some friends over so you can all dream together and support each other.

Attend New Year’s Kesha

Spend the evening ringing in the New Year thankful for the year that has passed and for the year to come.

Churches and other religious institutions in our communities will definitely be hosting a Kesha. Also, look out for Christian concerts happening around the city on New Year’s eve. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity for reflection and renewal as you start your 2023.

Host a Watch Party

Netflix and Chill? Yeah! This is an opportunity for hosting a watch party for all your favorite shows.

Pick a favorite movie franchise, a favorite actor, or a favorite movie location, and plan your own movie marathon for yourself, your family, or some friends.

Order takeout, pop some popcorn, open a bottle of bubbly, and park yourself on the couch until bedtime—whether that’s before or after midnight.
