Over the past few years, car companies have released new models in a bid to get ahead of the curve and edge out the competition. 

By offering state-of-the-art features, advanced technology capabilities and comfy interior, the companies apply various tactics to woo the public. 

Kenyans.co.ke takes an in-depth look at some of the new car models released in 2022.

022 Range Rover L460 

Locally, the new 2022 Range Rover L460 was officially launched in the country on July 21, 2022, at the Jaguar Land Rover Showroom in Westlands, Nairobi.

Described as the world's most desired sports utility vehicle (SUV), Kenyans would have to part with Ksh45 million to get ahold of the car.

According to Inchcape Managing Director Francis Agbonlahor, the model would be available in different forms including the High Standard Equipment (HSE), Autobiography, SV, and the 1st Edition.

2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV 

Regarded as a more spacious version of Bolt EV, the 2022 version of Chevrolet Bolt EV (Electric Utility Vehicle) offers more features suited to a driver. 

Fitted with a hands-free autonomous driving system, model-specific wheels, panoramic sunroof and illuminated charge port. 

The new model offers a generous front headroom and a spacious back seat. The vehicle, which consists of a 200 horsepower, is packed with a 65-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. 

"Using a 240-volt Level 2 charger, the Bolt EUV can be fully recharged in roughly 7 hours. With 120-volt home charging, it takes considerably longer. Chevy states that you can get 4 miles of range with a 1-hour charge using a 120-volt charger."

The vehicle retails at Ksh4.1 million.

2022 Honda Civic 

Offering more tech features as opposed to its predecessors, it's no secret why the Honda Civic is a fan favourite. 

Regarded as one of the top three best selling passenger cars in the United States of America (USA), consists of timeless design concepts such as a low hood, front fenders, and beltline, which creates an expansive greenhouse and a superb outward view.

The front chassis has also been reconstructed to offer a spacious back seat. 

The vehicle either consists of a 2 litre 4-cylinder with 158 horsepower or a turbocharged 1.5 litre 4-cylinder with 180 horsepower. 

The international price range for this vehicle is set at Ksh3.6 million.

2022 Hyundai Tucson

With a starting retail price of Ksh3.1 million, the Hyundai Tucson takes the vehicle's styling, technology and connectivity to a new level. 

The vehicle offers motorists a chance for either gas, hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains. 

Part of the interior features includes a 2.5 litre 4-cylinder engine, with 187 horsepower. The 5-seater also has an all-wheel drive (AWD) system- hence it can send 50 percent of its power to the rear wheel on a need basis.

2022 Mercedes Benz C-Class 

The Mercedes Benz C-Class exudes sophisticated features that boasts of an exquisite interior and a sportier exterior look.

The latest version of Mercedes Benz does not disappoint as it offers a more driver-focused cabin incorporated with technology features borrowed from the S-class.

This includes a voice command system, driver personalisation features such as fingerprint scanner. The vehicle uses a single 2 litre 4-cylinder engine with an output of 255 horsepower.

The vehicle has a Ksh5 million retail price.

2022 Subaru BRZ

The latest version of Subaru BRZ sets itself from the previous models with a stylish new sports car built for fun and adventure.

The vehicle offers a fast-paced driving experience - with the car weighing in at 2,900 pounds ( the lightest sports car the company has released). 

"Subaru developed an aluminum roof, front fenders, and hood for the new BRZ to help shave weight. And the result is an all-new car that is essentially no heavier than the old model, despite being slightly longer and packing more equipment," read part of the vehicle's profile. 

Under the hood of the vehicle, sits a 2.4 litre 4-cylinder with an output of 228 horsepower and 184 torque. 

Further, it offers drivers a choice of shifting themselves with a 6-speed manual or automatic paddle shifter. 

The 2022 version goes for Ksh3.4 million.
