DPP Transfers Prosecutors in Major Changes

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions transferred prosecutors to various offices across the country in a bid to boost service delivery.

A statement obtained by Kenyans.co.ke and dated December 22, indicated that a total of 119 prosecution counsels had been reshuffled in the drive.

“In accordance with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution Deployment and Transfer Policy and to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery services, I have made the following changes,” read the statement

Magdalene Mbuli Ngalyuka was deployed to serve as Western Kenya's regional head while Peter Kiprop was moved to Coast and Ahmed Hassan was transferred to North and South Rift

Joseph Kimathi was moved to the Appeals Division and Tom Ogweno will now serve as the Head of the Complaints and Compliment Division.

Rodah Amulele was named as the Deputy head of Internal Quality Assurance, Christine Njeri Gakobo as deputy Head of Prosecutions Training Institute, Gateru Mercy Wanjiru as the head of the Anti-Corruption Division and Christine Diana Nanjala as the judicial review and human rights division.

Other transfers included Alexander Jami Yamina (deputy regional head of Coast) while new county heads were unveiled as Lilian Njeri Gichuhi (Siaya), Joel Kibet Chirchir (Nyamira), Felister Njeru (Tharaka Nithi), Bonny Okemwa (Taita Taveta), Jackson Motende (Machakos), Maari Jane Kemunto (Kirinyaga), Brian Pratt Omondi  Ayodo (Kisii) and Kakoi Edward Matisi (Marsabit).

Other individuals selected to serve as county heads included William Ochieng (Kitui), Claire Cherop Kosgei (Migori), Oloo Tito Wanga (Samburu), Patrick Tame Onjoro (Mandera), Birir Peter Kimayo (Lamu), Vivian Janet Kambaga (Kilifi), Kimani Esther Wambui (Laikipia) and Bernard Ngetich Kipkemoi (Isiolo).

Charles Okeyo Ong’ang’a was moved to Nairobi County Appeals Division, Mulati Job Wamoyo to JKIA, Evans Gitonga Muriuki to Homicide Division, Solomon Wabomba Naulikha to Nyeri, Mwaniki Mary Nyambura to Githongo in Meru, Ngatunyi Beatrice Muthoni to Kiambu, Sirtuy Lazarus Kipkosgei to Kakamega, Mwangi Georgina Wangari to Central, Gladys Njambi Kariuki to the Lands Division, Festus Njue Njeru to the Anti-Corruption Division and John Osungu Okoth to Kisumu.

Peris Mirigo Gathu was moved to Kenol, Otieno Winnie Atieno to Kilifi, Ingutia Judith Nyanga to Milimani law Courts, Mumia Allen Mulama to Homicide Division, Stephen Kapkwang Cheboi to Elgeyo Marakwet, Desmond Washingtone Majale to City Court, Machira James Ngunju to Moyale, Wangechi Bidan Kihara to Dadaab, Christine Mueni Mbevi to Embu, Pauline Mwaniki Karimi to Kitui, Lubanga Varoline Ambululi to Nyeri, Lydia Muthoni Kagori to Muranga, David Davis Silati to Keroka and Nelly Grace Omusebe Munyolo to Kisumu among others.

According to the statement, the ODPP's ICT division was also strengthened and almost a dozen officers were deployed to regional offices. 

"The transfer and deployment letters will be issued in due course. However, the affected officers should report by February 1, 2023. 

"The officers affected are advised to prepare handover reports which for prosecution counsel must include all cases they were handling and the status. A copy of the report must be forwarded to the secretary of public prosecutions for records,” the statement added.
