A day after the main suspect in the gruesome murder of Edwin Chiloba was arrested, the victim's sister narrated her last moment with the LGBTQ activist.

She stated that the news of his death came to the family as a shock especially given the fact that they got the information about his murder through social media platforms.

On Saturday, January 7 outside the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, the sister narrated to the Nation her last conversation with Chiloba whose body was found stashed in a metal box in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county.

According to the sister, Chiloba called the family during the festive season promising to pay them a visit in 2023 as he was, at the time, engaged in some events and that he was planning to visit his adoptive parents.

"We are deeply grieved by the death of my only brother, we had a lot of hopes in him. He promised us that he will soon be graduating," his sister recalled.

"On December 25, he was supposed to come home but he told us that he was going to see his spiritual father," she added.

She further called upon the government to promptly act and arrest those involved in the heinous act. The sister added that no human should die such a painful death.

"He was severely hurt by the culprits. Edwin was a good boy, he could not hurt anyone. I wonder why those people tortured him like that," the sister questioned.

Other members of the family were heartbroken after viewing his body at the mortuary noting that it was in a 'pathetic' state.

"His death has shocked us as a family and we want the culprits brought to book," one of the members stated.

After learning of his death, Chiloba's adoptive parents penned a painful message concluding, "Edwin, we love you."

Chiloba's body was found on Tuesday, January 3, in Kipkenyo Kapseret, stashed in a metal box along the road. It was reportedly dumped by a vehicle with no number plates.

Before it was identified by the police, area residents reported that it was a woman's body due to the clothes in the metal box.

According to the statements recorded at the local police station, the deceased and the main suspect lived together before the tragic incident.

The neighbours claimed they saw the suspect with a metal box similar to the one used to carry Chiloba's remains.

Chiloba's murder has attracted concerns from across the globe, with governments and human rights activists calling upon relevant authorities in Kenya to ensure justice is served.
