Former private detective Jane Mugoh shared her successful rescue mission of 25 young girls in Nairobi after a distress call from one of the victims.

In a statement on Tuesday, January 17, Mugoh stated that with the help of detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other volunteers, she rescued the girls who had been detained in a tiny hostel room by unidentified cartels.

According to the former detective, the girls had been detained after failing to raise enough funds to cater for their travel to Saudi Arabia where they were expected to secure jobs.

"I started my week by rescuing a girl who sent me a message on Saturday. She had been detained by some agents and cartels who are operating agencies and hostels within Nairobi CBD.

"We responded to the distress call, found 25 girls waiting for their passports, visa and detained for lack of money to pay in a hotel," she added.

She, however, failed to disclose the names of the cartels or the companies involved in the saga explaining that investigations were still underway.

Mugoh hinted that the bureau was run by a government official and media personalities working in cohorts with cartels.

"Suspects are in police custody waiting to refund the money and documents they had obtained from the innocent girl pretending to secure her a job," she added.

Conclusively, she advised all job seekers to be cautious as they look for employment to avoid falling prey to the cartels preying on desperate job seekers.

"I know many jobless Kenyans are struggling to look for jobs locally and internationally but before you pay your money and hand over your documents, kindly do a background check of the agent or person you are dealing with," she advised.

From the videos shared, the girls were in a room with several bunk beds while others slept on mattresses placed on the floor.

The girls were filmed carrying heavily loaded backpacks outside the hotel rooms awaiting directions from the former detective.

Cases of girls traveling to Arabian countries with the help of unlicensed agents who leave the victims stranded in the Gulf have been on the rise forcing the government to intervene.

In December 2022, the Principal Secretary of the State Department of Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu asked domestic workers living in Saudi Arabia to use TikTok to seek help from the government.
