“Our attention has been drawn to a fake Poster insinuating that we have acquired Hilton Hotel. Kindly note that this is false.

On Tuesday, January 17, multiple social posts insinuated that Pronto Restaurants had acquired the iconic hotel.

The reports drew mixed reactions from Kenyans, with some commending the owners for the bold move and milestone.

In addition to the reports of the takeover, reactions across the social media platform marvelled at the breakthrough by the "Eastleigh community" as many comments alluded.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was among the Kenyans who reacted with his social media post while congratulating the owners.

"Bravo to the hard-working Eastleigh business fraternity kwa taking over Hilton hotel it is now known as Pronto restaurant," Sonko stated.

"Hilton Hotel - then, now it is Pronto Restaurant! Who is the owner of Pronto Restaurants?" another social media user wondered.

The iconic Hilton Hotel announced its exit from the Nairobi Central Business District after 53 years of operation and fame.

Located within Nairobi's Central Business District, Hilton had become an important landmark in the city, which when added to the long list of events hosted on its premises qualified it as monumental to the city's landscape.
