Azimio principal Martha Karua on Sunday, January 21, made demands to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), regarding the outcome of the August 2022 elections.
The demands were made a day before Azimio leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s public engagement rally in Kamukunji on Monday, January 23.
Karua,a former running mate of Odinga, while making the demands stated that it was ripe for Kenyans to know what really happened during the August 9, 2022, general election.
“The truth shall not be forgotten, shall not and cannot be buried, the truth will always, and that time is now.
“Kenyans have a right to information, the truth lies in the servers, those doubting the whistle-blower’s data should demand servers be laid bare,” she demanded.
The former Constitutional and Justice Minister explained that opening the IEBC servers was the only way Kenya can get to the bottom of the matter and free Kenya once and for all from electoral deceit.
Karua remarked that IEBC has no monopoly over the records arguing that IEBC was just a duty bearer on behalf of Kenyans.
“The records belong to us and all power is exercised by each and every office on our behalf, so IEBC should listen and open the servers,” she demanded.
The Supreme Court on September 5, 2022, upheld President William Ruto’s win but Karua has argued that is no longer in consideration.
“The Supreme Court is functus official, its work is done, what is now under discussion is crucial evidence via a whistleblower,” Karua remarked.
On January 18, Azimio Coalition revealed that it had evidence that votes were rigged in favor of Ruto, especially from Mount Kenya polling stations.
“We now have evidence that there was voter manipulation within the Mt Kenya region.
“We have been given the proof by a non-profit organization that partners with pro-democracy leaders across Africa,” Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni stated back then.
