Media personality Njogu Wa Njoroge revealed how he was surprised by his friends with a new house.

Speaking on Tuesday, January 31, the ex-Kameme FM presenter emotionally narrated how the late legendary musician John De'Mathew secretly with other secular musicians began building a house for him upcountry.

In a photo seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Wa Njoroge, who now works at Kayu FM, shared a snip of the house stating how memories of the late musician flood his mind every time he is in it.

“Every time I'm in this house, I remember John Demathew. Without informing me, he woke up one day and called Maina Baba and John Ndung'u Kalulu.

They got into the car and drove all the way to Njoro Karima Mutiume. They found my dad. They asked my dad to show them where I'm supposed to build my village house. When he showed them, they marked the size of the house,” he narrated in part.

He further added that he informed him after completing the whole process, connecting him through the phone with his father.

The radio presenter however expressed his happiness as De'Mathew was able to attend the housewarming party before his demise.

“That's when De'Mathew called me and asked to say hello to my dad. He was on my case on the progress of the house. A year later, he again drove over for the housewarming Mass presided over by Fr Kamiti. May God bless you with such a friend,” he noted.

Wa Njoroge joined Kayu FM on June 26, 2020, after he was fired by Kameme FM. Upon joining, he thanked the station’s boss for granting him a second chance in the studio.

"Thank you my people. I will forever be grateful to God and to all of you. He is a God of another chance. I promise you a balanced, issue-based morning show. I love you all. Thanks, Rose Kimotho and the entire KAYÛ FM 91.0 fraternity for the warm reception," he wrote.

He had also tried his hand in politics but lost in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations for the Njoro parliamentary seat.

Before joining Kameme FM, the journalist worked at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation - KBC, Inooro FM, and Gukena FM.
