Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki offered a job to a lady who boldly approached him asking for the favor.

Kindiki was attending the official operationalisation of the new Cianda Division in Kiambaa Constituency which included the installation of the first Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) for the Division and the official opening of the ACC's office on Wednesady February 1.

He announced that he had decided to employ the young graduate in his ministry promising to work on getting every unemployed youth a job.

I have listened to the young lady who pleaded for a job and have decided to employ her in my ministry.

"Together with your Governor Kimani Wamatangi, we will make sure that no youth will be unemployed in this county,” he announced.

The young lady had, earlier that day, pleaded with the CS to offer her a job arguing that unemployment was making the youth fall into drug abuse and crime.

“Crime rate and drug addiction are so high because of the high rate of unemployment, personally  I am here to request a job

"I have my papers here.  I have a diploma in Business Administration and a bachelor of Science and Business Administration Procurement Option. I will be happy if you allow me to hand over my papers to you,” she pleaded.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the young girl was seen handing her documents to Kindiki who openly received them.

Wamatangi also offered a job to another young man who was also bold enough to explain how he lived as a drunkard for 16 years and pleaded with the Governor to employ him.

Kindiki, however, warned the youth to stop using every public meeting to ask for employment as there are other platforms to do that.

“I have listened to all those youth who have talked of unemployment. Next time, let us make this about general problems. For specific problems, let us use other channels to support our young people.

"I am not saying those who asked for jobs did wrong because when you see a minister, you have to speak out about your problems,” he noted.

President William Ruto has been working hard on providing employment for the youth. On December 12, 2022, he announced 11,000 employment opportunities for those in Nairobi as a replacement for the defunct Kazi Mtaani project.

On October 30, the Head of State also announced that the youth who worked in the Kazi Mtaani would be contracted to plant trees.
