Two photos of cars installed with signal jammers were the topic of discussion among Kenyans as they all shared their knowledge of the state-of-the-art technology of signal jammers.

From the two photos, more Kenyans concluded it was used in President William Ruto's security motorcade.

One of the photos shared on Tuesday, January 31,  indicated that the unique cellular jammer could repel any signal, drone, or cell phone within a 10-kilometre radius.

It alleged that none of the four Kenyan presidents deployed it on their convoys.

However, a Google reverse search by Kenyans.co.ke shows that the photo was from Dynamite Global Strategies' online newsroom, which featured the first counter-drone & RCIED convoy jammer in the market.

The article was published on December 6, 2019, by a US and UK-based company dealing with Defense and Space Manufacturing.

"The product is developed in response to substantial customer interest and is expected to be of significant interest to a range of Dynamite’s customer base globally, across military, law enforcement, homeland security agencies, defense contractors, and VIP markets," the company noted on its website.

While the second photo was first shared on December 6, 2018, with the caption indicating the vehicle escorted the late Tanzanian President John Magufuli.

The photo elicited mixed reactions among Tanzanians on the necessity of all the antennas on the vehicle.

Ruto's Motorcade

During the inauguration ceremony held at the Kasarani Stadium on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, Ruto's motorcade had an SUV with the signal jammer installed atop.

Convoy jammers protect the president from dangerous rays and interfere with radio noise and signals. It employs active and reactive jamming technology.

This technology blocks remote-controlled improvised explosive devices that may target the presidential motorcade

Additionally, it blocks anyone from tracing Ruto's convoy through a unique noise signal that creates a firewall between the transmitter and the receiver.

It is controlled by a remote device located near the driver's seat.
