An American multinational partnered with the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to set up the J&J Foundation Advanced Nursing Education Fund.
While announcing the partnership, with Johnson and Johnson Foundation, HELB noted that Kenyan students will stand a chance to access quality education and an affordable cost.
The fund aims to offer flexible and affordable study loans to nurses pursuing advanced and specialised courses in approved training institutions in Kenya.
The funding is available for all Kenyan professionals with an interest in advancing their careers and studies in nursing.
"The fund applies to salaried nurses and midwives working in HELB-compliant organizations and admitted for Higher Diploma or Specialisation medical courses in recognized medical training institutions based in Kenya.
"HELB-compliant organizations should be listed on the employer’s portal and should be compliant to HELB Act," the Higher Education Loans Board announced.
J&J fund allows students to take up their academic programmes while working.
The students will pay back the school fees in form of loans which will be remitted through the Board.
How to Apply
The board advises qualified applicants to visit the HELB website www(dot)helb(dot)co(dot)ke to access the Students’ Portal to register, create and activate an account.
Once on the HELB website, applicants are required to select and fill the J&J Foundation Advanced Nursing Education Fund.
An applicant will have to read and agree on the consent for the collection and processing of personal data.
The deadline for one to apply for the J&J fund is on June 30, 2023, before HELB embarks on reviewing the submitted applications.
