Hannah Wanjiku Gitwiria, wife to the late Lawyer Willie Kimani, on Friday, February 3, reacted to the sentencing of her husband's killers.

While speaking to journalists immediately after Justice Jessie Lessit sentenced the murder convicts, Hannah explained that Willie's children lived under a cloud of the case despite being too young to understand the magnitude of the events.

However, she expressed gratitude and noted that the kids had grown tremendously.

"The children are in school, and the firstborn is already in Grade Five while the younger kid is in Grade Two," Hannah explained.

The widow added that the first-born son still remembers his father with whom he shared great moments before the brutal extra-judicial murder in June 2016.

"He has memories of his dad, but the second-born has no recollection of his father because he was just nine months old in 2016," she explained.

Hannah added that it would be emotionally torturing to explain to the kids the sentencing of their father's murderers, but she would do her best to make them understand.

"I will try to explain to them in a language that they can best understand," she assured while thanking friends, relatives and government officials who stood by her.

The Late lawyer, Willie Kimani, was murdered on June 23, 2016, alongside his client Josephat Mwenda and their taxi driver Joseph Muiruri.

The seven-year case culminated in the conviction of police officers Sergeant Fredrick Ole Leliman, Stephen Cheburet, Sylvia Wanjiku, and their informer Peter Ngugi on July 22, 2022.

On Friday, February 3, Justice Lesit sentenced Leliman to death while Cheburet, Wanjiku and Ngugi were given 30, 24, and 20 years respectively.

Justice Lessit noted that the convicts committed murder most foul that involved meticulous planning and cover-up.
