A group of over 30 Jubilee Members of Parliament met President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua at State House.
Kenyans.co.ke learnt that Balambala MP Omar Shurie led the members in the Wednesday meeting, alongside Eldas MP Adan Keynan and Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo, who are all long-standing lawmakers.
Eldas MP Adan Keynan is currently serving his fifth term as an MP and has previously held prominent positions within the Jubilee Party.
In the 12th Parliament, Keynan was the Secretary of the Jubilee Coalition Joint Parliamentary Group.
On his part, MP Shurie is serving in his second term and is the former Commandant of the Administration Police Training College.
Isiolo Senator, Fatuma Dullo is also a prominent member known for the staunch support of former President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration since 2013.
In the last General Election, she led the charge as Jubilee Party's foot soldier in Isiolo County, which saw the party clinch the Senate and governor's seats.
Other prominent leaders in the State House meeting include former Murang'a Women Representative Sabina Chege and East African Legislative Assembly member, Kanini Kega.
They were both notable as among the few MPs who dedicated their efforts towards the campaigns of the Azimio la Umoja Party in the Mount Kenya region.
Others include Senator Margaret Kamar (nominated), Veteran Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan, Kitui South MP Rachael Nyamai, John Waluke (Sirisia), Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West) and Samuel Arama of Nakuru West.
Also present in the meeting were MPs Irene Njoki (Bahati), Sarah Korere, David Kiaraho (Ol Kalou), Zachary Kwenya (Kinangop), Shadrack Mwiti (South Imenti), Amos Mwago (Starehe), Daniel Karitho (Igembe Central), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West), and Joseph Githuku (Lamu).
According to a statement from the State House, their meeting touched on involvement in development as elected leaders. The MPs, State House noted, acknowledged their close ties with the President Ruto-led faction and affirmed that they had only "returned home".
In his remarks, the President noted that he would henceforth treat the Jubilee Party leaders as members of his faction.
However, through Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, Jubilee warned the MPs for their action. On Tuesday, February 7, Kioni stated that he would rather have a few committed members than a large group of betrayers.
