Former President Uhuru Kenyatta will not get involved in the ongoing Jubilee party wrangles after a section of his allies pledged support for the government.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Friday, February 10, the party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni indicated that the President was focused on his international peacekeeping duties.

The close ally of Uhuru explained that the former Head of State did not want to be drawn to petty issues that would distract him from his ongoing role in Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) peace talks.

His remarks were centred on the surprise suspension of Kioni and vice chairperson David Murathe by MPs who visited President William Ruto on February 8.

"He (Uhuru) will not even waste his time. Remember the work he has today on the peacekeeping mission in the region, which is likely to be expanded to other areas. We are focused on issues facing Kenyans.

'It is not the power that you need. You need people loyal to the vision, and the party leader is never there to coerce anybody. That is not his nature," the SG stated.

The party SG added that they were not surprised by the move orchestrated by the team led by EALA MP Kanini Kega and Sabina Chege, adding that the duo was working under Ruto's instructions.

He alleged a scheme to drag Uhuru into supremacy battles, with Ruto maintaining that the former Head of State would not fall into the trap.

'What they are trying to do with this Jubilee drama is to ruin his (Uhuru's) reputation by dragging him into small issues that those people had been detailed to do at State House," he stated.

Nonetheless, he stated that they would deal with the disloyal members through their party structures.

Kioni added that his suspension and that of Murathe could not stand as a decision could not be ratified in a meeting not convened by the political leader.

Notably, the defiant legislators were served with show-cause letters following their visit to the State House and the consequent decision to suspend party leaders.
