The family of a 17-year-old Form 4 candidate was left with more questions than answers after he mysteriously died in the school.
Allegedly, the management, called the parents at around 10 pm on Monday, February 13, asking them to rush to the Nakuru-based school.
According to the guardians, the school claimed that the boy was unwell.
However, the mother from Kahawa Wendani in Kiambu was far, as well as the father. They opted to send the uncle to check on the young boy.
In a narration shared by Derrick Mbugua on Friday, February 17, the school had earlier stated that the boy was suffering from Malaria.
He had also called home several times asking for money to buy medicine since the school only reportedly gave him painkillers.
When his condition worsened at the school, he was rushed to the hospital at night while unconscious before his uncle joined him at the facility.
Meanwhile, when the parents got to the hospital on Tuesday, February 14, the boy was already placed in an oxygen support machine.
"On the hospital bed the boy was not saying a word just staring at his mother while his uncle tried to feed the boy some milk," Mbugua shared.
According to the hospital, the boy was coughing blood and vomiting. His uncle was on his side feeding him milk. However, after a few sips, the boy coughed his last and died.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the heartbroken mother noted that her son was not sick before the call from the school.
"I just want to know what happened to my boy, how critical was his condition that he was rushed to the hospital unconscious and placed in machines," she questioned.
She added that the school did not offer any explanation and only vowed to corporate in unravelling the mysterious death. The family also appealed to the education stakeholders led by the Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu to intervene.
Additionally, they questioned why the school did not call to inform them of the student's dire condition.
