Fluted wall panels are rapidly gaining popularity in modern houses in Kenya especially in high-end estates due to the sophisticated touch they add to the home.

They are made of engineered wood fibers with wood plastic composite and have a wood finish that mimics the look of natural wood.

Often the panels are used on the TV wall creating the illusion of a floating TV. They serve as the backdrop for the feature wall of any room including the living room, lounge area, family room, and bedrooms.

In some homes, the panels are placed on a section of one wall or one wall entirely.

According to several traders, the panels are sold between Ksh2,500 to Ksh4,000 depending on the size.

They often come in nude colours (brown, tan, beige, pale taupe, grey) that are relaxing and calming to the eye, also helping to achieve a minimalist theme.

"Apart from being an aesthetic feature that adds depth and texture to walls, fluted panels help hide electronic cables, especially on TV walls. They also absorb sound due to their design. Having them in a closed space help improve the quality of sound," ALM construction limited stated.

Some owners of contemporary homes use these panels to draw attention to one side of the house. Additionally, some homeowners with a high ceiling also use the panels on it. They can also be included in office ceilings.

Furthermore, with a few LED strips added to the panels, the homeowner can brighten the room either as accent lighting, task lighting, or general ambient lighting.

To add to the advantages, they are resistant to mold, water, termites, and moisture.

If you are considering dividing your spaces into two sections, a fluted panel would be an ideal feature wall.

"Not only will fluted panels give your home a fresh new look, but they can also help to protect your walls from scuffs and scratches," Vwalla, an interior design agency stated on its website.
