Two more Radio Maisha presenters are set to leave the station in a continuation of the mass exodus witnessed in the recent past.

Celebrated presenter Billy Miya Wednesday, March 1, confirmed reports stating that he is leaving the Mombasa-Road based media house.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the seasoned presenter known for his evening drive show, BillynaMbaruk intimated that he was set to leave the Standard Media Group-owned station after his last show on Friday, March 3.

He added that he would join the newly launched Radio 47 as part of the broadcasting team.

“Yes it is true I am leaving, I will have my last show on March 3,” he told Kenyans.

Miya's co-host in the evening drive show Mbaruk Mwalimu also confirmed that his time for parting ways with Radio Maisha was nigh- after his stint spanning over five years.

The duo was known for its hilarious commentary on different topics while on air. Their chemistry, coupled with their turn-taking techniques and mastery of key trends made them one of the best pairs in Swahili radio broadcasting.

Miya and Mbaruk became the latest journalists to confirm their departure from Radio Maisha after veteran sports journalist and football commentator Ali Hassan Kauleni who on Saturday, February 25, confirmed Radio 47 as his new home.

Other presenters who have in the past confirmed joining Radio 47 include Lynda Oriaso, Beatrice Maganga, and Geoffrey Mung’ou.

Radio Maisha commenced the restructuring process late in 2022 after a memo was sent to Standard Group's staff notifying them of an impending mass entrenchment.

Since then, the media giant has witnessed changes in its structure and programming- ranging from reshuffle of show hosts to managerial shake-up.

The Standard Group issued a redundancy notice in November 2022, after its financial woes worsened. Since then, the company, which is over 100 years old has seen its top talents exit, leaving it badly exposed.
