New details have emerged regarding the Lang'ata-based shooting where a police officer allegedly shot dead his girlfriend and a colleague's wife before turning the gun on himself.

A detective privy to the incident revealed to Kenyans.co.ke on Monday, March 6, that the police officer, before heading to work, had an altercation with a Police Constable whose wife he killed.

While on patrol duties at the Clean Shelf area, the officer excused himself and claimed to head out and pick something from the house.

The detective intimated that the officer, however, was hell-bent on looking for the PC but instead found his colleague's wife and he shot her dead.

The source noted that the reason for the altercation between the slain officer and the PC was still a mystery.

The police officer was perceived as a silent and reserved person and his colleagues could not rule out depression as one of the factors.

Eyewitnesses revealed to the media that he had appeared troubled recently even though the reason behind the shooting is yet to be determined.

According to the source, the PC, who lost a wife, is literally traumatised and is yet to conceptualise the events of the incident.

"He is in a bad shape and we pray he gets the strength and wisdom to fathom all this," the source indicated.

In a police report filed on Sunday, March 5, at Langata Police Station under OB number 54/5/3/2023, the officer locked himself inside his house where he shot his girlfriend seven times before turning the gun on himself.

The bullet went through the neck and exited from the back.

The officer used an AK-47 loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition. Among the items recovered at the scene of the crime were a pocket phone and his rifle.

The bodies were moved to the city mortuary and Chiromo Funeral Home awaiting autopsy.
