A Lang'ata-based police officer who shot dead his girlfriend and neighbour's wife before turning the gun on himself had threatened to kill three people a day before the incident, according to his neighbours.
Speaking to the media on Monday, March 7, Caleb Kiprono - a relative of the neighbour's wife - revealed that the deceased cop had been agitated recently and got into numerous alterations with the girlfriend and the neighbour - a fellow officer.
He added that the deceased indicated that he would cause harm to people - a threat that was dismissed as it was unlike him.
Kiprono indicated that on the fateful day - March 5 - his sister-in-law heard the officer and the girlfriend arguing, moments before shots were fired.
The sister-in-law sought out the issue before encountering the officer in the corridor.
"We hear that he started fighting with the girlfriend, and in the process, my sister-in-law tried to go and find out what was happening. Unfortunately, she met the gentleman, and he shot her dead in the corridor.
"A day before this incident, he claimed that he was going to take the life of at least three people," Kiprono recalled.
On the other hand, the cop's relatives expressed their shock over the shooting, indicating that the officer was always quiet and calm.
"The way I know this boy, he is not someone who is insane. He was so silent so it is very difficult to know what could have been going on with him, "James Shianga stated.
According to a source who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke on March 5, the officer was on night duty before he excused himself to pick something from his house.
Upon reaching his house, he interacted with the wife before shooting her seven times. He also shot his colleague's wife before turning the gun on himself.
The bodies of the cop and his wife were taken to City Mortuary, pending an autopsy.
