13 Nairobi estates along Mombasa Road and Embakasi are set to face water supply disruptions for 24 hours owing to scheduled maintenance by Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company.

In a notice published on Tuesday, March 7, the utility farm indicated that the works would begin on Thursday, March 9 from 6 am to Friday, March 10 at 6 am.

The estates to be affected by the 24-hour closure are Coca-Cola, Mukuru, Imara Daima, Embakasi village and Tassia estate among other areas along North Airport Road.

Areas along Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), Athi River Export Processing Zone (EPZ), and the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) will also be affected by the water shortage.

The General Services Unit (GSU) and Administration Police training schools and Nairobi Inland Container depot Industries along Masai Road and adjacent areas were also included in the affected estates.

Nairobi water indicated that pipes along the Nairobi expressway would also be relocated in the move.

"We will shut down the water supply due to the ongoing relocation of water pipelines along the expressway highway.

"The shutdown will facilitate the interconnection of relocated pipeline to the old pipeline at the junction of North Airport/ Eastern Bypass Road and Mombasa Road," read the notice in part.

According to the utility firm, the interconnection will also pave way for the charging of the pipeline toward the Athi River Area in Machakos County.

Kenyans were, therefore, urged to prepare for the disruption even as the utility firm indicated that the water supply would be returned on time.

"We appeal to our customers for indulgence and urge them to use available water sparingly as we work towards restoring the supply.

"Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted," read the notice in part.
