“Kindiki you will know who I am, the CS is threatening me,” Raila alleged.

Raila assured his supporters that he would continue protesting since Ruto did not heed his demands.

“We gave an ultimatum to the government and told them that they reduce the cost of living and they did not heed.

“Instead, they increased taxation without lowering the price of basic commodities,” the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader remarked.

Raila was supported by Martha Karua who warned Kindiki against deploying the police to disrupt the planned mass action.

“If police injure anyone during the mass action, you are the one who will pay,” Karua warned the Interior CS.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka corroborated the statements by faulting the government for thei r plans to tripple University fees which he argued would make university education unaffordable.

“From September 2023, students will now be required to pay Ksh48,000 instead of Ksh16,000,” the Wiper Party leader claimed.

While attending an Interdenominational Thanksgiving service at Kirubia Stadium in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County, on Sunday, March 12, President William Ruto revealed that everyone was free to hold demonstrations.

“I want to tell those holding demonstrations that they are within their rights to do so but I want to tell them that this is a country governed by law and we cannot bend to their wishes to go against the law,” he remarked.
