KDF Advertises for Cleaners, Tailors & 55 Other Services: How to Bid

The Ministry of Defence, on Monday, March 20, sought to prequalify interested and eligible bidders to supply goods, works and non-consulting services for the Financial Year 2023/24 – 2024/25.

In a notice, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) invited Kenyans and duly registered youth, women and persons living with disabilities to apply for tenders

Some of the services KDF sought included providing cleaning and sanitary services to soldiers. The invitation to apply for pre-qualification also listed laundry services, garbage collection and tailoring services.

Other non-consulting services listed were the provision of mobile washrooms, car hire services, banking, public address system and pre-qualification for air ticketing and travel services.

To encourage collaboration with the members of the public, KDF further allowed Kenyans to place bids for internet and printing services. 

In the two financial years, the military expressed interest in engaging the members of the public in supplying foodstuff for the soldiers and other staff.

To enhance service delivery, the Ministry of Defence called on Kenyans to apply for supplying cars and planes with spare parts. 

"Pre-qualification for supply and delivery of general hardware, electricals fittings, plumbing materials and general building materials," the notice read in part.

"Pre-qualification for supply and delivery of dog food, veterinary services, dog equipment and their accessories," it added.

Supplying of branded staff uniforms, protective wear and other branded items was reserved for dully registered youth, women and persons living with disabilities.

The group was also privileged to supply furniture, printers, photocopiers, laptops and general stationery.

How to Bid

Ministry of Defence indicated that the invitation to tender would be made within two financial years.

"Tendering will be conducted through various tendering procedures using a standardized tender document and will be open to all applicants who prequalify," the notice read in part.

KDF advised Kenyans to obtain relevant information from the Ministry's headquarters and other offices between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

"A complete set of Prequalification Document in English may be obtained by interested applicants electronically free of charge on our website www(dot)mod(dot)go(dot)ke(dot).

Applicants who download the Prequalification Document must forward their particulars immediately to ahop@mod(dot)go(dot)ke(do) to facilitate any further clarification or addendum," the Ministry of Defence added.

So applicants delivering in hard copies, the Ministry of Defence encouraged them to send them through postal services in clearly marked envelopes by Friday, April 14.
