Gracias Choir: Koreans Wow Kenyans With Zabron Singers Song [VIDEO]

A video of an Asian choir performing the hit song Mkono wa Bwana by Zabron singers wowed Kenyans after it was shared widely on Monday, March 20.

In the video, the six-member choir performed an acapella rendition of the song at an official function, leaving many in awe of their command of the Kiswahili language.

Initial assumptions were that the singers were Chinese. However, Kenyans.co.ke established that the performers were the award-winning Gracias Choir members.

"This is the most wholesome thing I have seen today," one tweep wrote.

"Where were they performing? I would like to see them live," another added. 

A section of social media users opined that the choir should be contracted to perform in national functions, with President William Ruto, an avid music lover.

For some, it was a wake-up call. They noted that learning a second and even third language is one of the fastest ways to adapt to changes in the ever-dynamic world. 

Moreover, the question of the rise of Kiswahili as a global language, and one Kenyan opined that trained teachers should seize the opportunity to teach it. 

The choir was performing for dignitaries in the Japanese Embassy. It is in the country on an invitation by the International Youth Fellowship.

On March 18, Gracias Choir performed during the launch of the East African Christian Leaders Fellowship Greater Awakening Conference in Nairobi.

The choir prides itself among the best in the world. It was founded in the year 2000 and was fully incorporated in 2013.

Its speciality is in classical music and acapella. Through music, its foals are emotional purification, education and fellowship.

Gracias emerged top on the highest prize at the Marktoberdorf International Choral Competition in Germany in 2015 and has performed for heads of state and dignitaries.

It also performs for charity. In 2015, the Koreans pitched a camp in the country for one month to raise funds for the less fortunate in society.
