"Water harvesting techniques present a viable solution that provides a reliable source of water in areas with low rainfall," Rachel stated.

She added that giving vulnerable communities equal access to water and water resources will improve their health and help promote sustainable development.

In addition, the First Lady emphasised that access to clean water is a fundamental prerequisite for human development and prosperity.

"The global water crisis demands collective action to ensure its availability for all," noted.

Notably, Chidzuga is the founder and ambassador of Maji Mashinani an initiative that is aimed at connecting Kenyans in rural areas with clean water.

"Thank you Mama Rachel Ruto for sharing your vision and guidance with the Maji Mashinani initiative team and we are looking forward to making this program a reality," the journalist stated.

Earlier Rachel met with Help a Child Africa Country Director, Rachel Kigame, and held discussions on areas of collaboration on women's economic empowerment and financial inclusion.

According to the Water Organisation, about 28 million Kenyans lack access to safe water and at least 41 million others lack access to improved sanitation.

Some of the causes of water shortage include population growth, urbanization, climate change, poor management of resources, and water pollution.

Chidzuga worked as a news anchor at KTN before joining K24. She is currently a show host on Radio47.
