Nairobi Water Introduces Online Bill Statement; How to Check

The Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company (NAWASCO) on Monday, February 6 introduced an online water bill statement service to enhance its service delivery to city residents.

In a statement through their social media pages, NAWASCO revealed that the new system will ease the process of getting water account statements.

“Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company is pleased to introduce to you a water bill statement service in the self-care portal on our website,’ read part of the statement.

In what will be a game-changer to an evolving digital market for service providers, users will be required to first register at the website portal(dot)nairobiwater(dot)co(dot)ke to be able to access the service.

For a request to access your billing statement;

  1. Open portal(dot)nairobiwater(dot)co(dot)ke(slash)homes on your browser
  2. Log in and proceed to the self-care tab and click on ‘Get Statement’

If you are not yet registered, the portal will prompt you to do so by;

  1. Entering your first and second name
  2. Filling in your email address
  3. Entering your password (It is recommended for one to have a strong password that incorporates capital letters, and number(s) in it). 
  4. You will also be required to enter your phone number
  5. A one-time password (OTP) request will be prompted after which you will enter to confirm eligibility
  6. Enter the OTP digits after which you will be ushered to a new page

Under the new page, you will have three segments on your tab. 

  1. Self Care
  2. Other Services
  3. Water/Sewer Application

Click on the Self-Care tab and proceed to ‘Get statement’ 

The page will ask you to enter the date(s) and month(s) upon which you want the statement. You will also enter your account number and mobile number then you submit to request.

Initially, to access your bill, all you had to do was to dial *888# and follow the following procedure;

1. Dial *888# on your phone

2. You will be directed to a window that has 7 options

3. Key in '2' on the dialogue box to get to query your bill



4. You will be requested to enter your account number after which you will access your bill.

This comes in the backdrop of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja's revelation that from February 2023, Nairobi City would get an additional 140 million litres of water once the Northern Collector Tunnel is officially launched.

The city has in recent times experienced water shortages with the meteorological department stating that it was because of a shortage of rainfall.
