Nominated Member of Parliament Trizah Wanjiru Mwangi, in conjunction, with well-wishers on Saturday, March 25, surprised a family in Gatundu North, Kiambu County, with a new house.

In the series of photos shared, the MP was excited to present the new house to the family whose story went viral in 2022.

"I feel good about this project. I thank God we have finished this. It was part of my prayer item, now it is time to thank God for it," she stated.

The plight of the family was shared by philanthropist Karangu Muraya in 2022 when he rescued a family member held at a prison in Thika for stealing scrap metal to provide for the family.

"We met a hopeless family who could not afford even tea for their breakfast, their firstborn son was in Thika prison because they couldn't afford Ksh20,000 to bail him, I went to Thika I bailed him and by the grace of God the young man was released," Muraya shared on Saturday, March 25.

"I remember her telling me, 'Karangu that family has touched me so much and I promise I will change their lives'. My sister Trizah, may the same God who has used you to beautify mama John's family live to beautify your life and your family," Muraya recalled.

The project began in December 2022 after the MP was touched by the sorry state the family lived in. The mother, Mary Nyambura, lamented that the house was always 'raining'.

"Whenever it rains, water gets into the house, and my children are always suffering from the effect of the cold they are exposed to," Nyambura lamented.

Unlike the old mud hut, the family will move into the ultra-modern house with a gypsum ceiling, alluring lights, and a chandelier that brightens up the living room.

It is decorated with one-way mirrors on the windows, a maroon rooftop, and a chimney with a unique pattern.

The MP also upgraded their toilet, which was previously situated near a banana plant and seemingly unsafe. She replaced it with a brick-walled toilet and bathroom painted in cream-white colour.

Wanjiru also splashed on tiling the washrooms and the main house, adding class to the magnificent house.

Additionally, she ensured the house had an electricity connection to limit using kerosene lamps that may result in a fire.

Her fans praised her efforts, urged leaders to emulate her, and put a smile on struggling Kenyans nationwide.

Wanjiru constructed the house under her foundation, the Wanjiru Wa Mwangi Foundation.
