Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Bishop David Kodia on Tuesday, April 4, claimed that police officers raided his home over money laundering allegations.

According to the bishop, the officers arrived at his rented house in Kisumu unannounced and interrogated his family.

He noted that they camped outside his house and drove away when they noticed the presence of journalists.

“When they interrogated my family, they said I am involved in money laundering. Surely, they need to come up with a better lie. I don’t understand why they came to my home,” he stated.

The man of the cloth lamented that he had not been issued with a court order to warrant his arrest adding that he was not a criminal.

“I have never received any court order that allows police to come to my place. I am not a criminal that can be arrested without a court order,” added the bishop.

Addressing the money laundering claims, Kodia stated that he did not know the individual that directed the police to his home.

“The police officers, who went to my place in Kisumu, claimed that they were sent by one Farouk. I don’t know who this Farouk is, I have never met him and I don’t know how important he is,” he stated

Bishop Kodia is the Nyanza Region  National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) chairperson stationed in Bondo, Siaya County.

He recently made the headlines backing Azimio leader Raila Odinga in leading nationwide protests.

He stated on March 15,  that the call for mass action was justified noting that some parts of Kenya felt sidelined by President William Ruto's administration, especially regarding appointments to various state offices.

"These demonstrations we are witnessing from Azimio are a way of protesting against exclusivity we are witnessing in this country where two communities tend to control all the appointments in this country," he stated.
