A 14-year-old form one student at Bishop Abiero Girls in Kisumu was reported to have fainted in class on Tuesday, April 4, and died.
Her father Moriss Abet narrated that he received a phone call from the school principal informing him that the student had fainted and was being rushed to the hospital.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, April 5, the school principal explained that the student attended all the lessons for the day and reportedly fell unwell in the evening.

“The incident was reported to the principal’s office and the girl was rushed to the nearest medical facility.
“The facility referred her to the county hospital in Kombewa where, unfortunately, they pronounced her dead when she arrived,” the principal stated.
Moriss recounted his last conversation with his daughter narrating that they shared many light moments when she went home for the half-term holidays, which would be her last visit.
He stated that the girl was very jovial and the duo enjoyed a good relationship. He considered her his friend and sister.
“She was a very jovial kid. I last spoke to her when she came back home for the half-term holidays.
“The relationship we had was not like any other father-and-daughter because we shared jokes all the time. She was even like my sister,” he stated.
He recalled encouraging her daughter to work hard in school because of the struggles he was going through to educate her.
“I was having a bit of trouble with my eyes the last time but when I come back from school, you will be impressed with my results,” her daughter replied at the time.
