The case involving a 26-year-old woman who was allegedly thrown off an apartment in Kasarani, Nairobi County, on Saturday night, April 8, took a new twist after her boyfriend and his cousin were released days after their arrest.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Resila Onyango, the National Police Service Spokesperson, confirmed that the lady contradicted the preliminary findings by the police shortly after she received treatment.

Onyango suspected that the motive of the lady was to cover up the boyfriend's actions.

The Police Spokesperson added that despite the boyfriend's release, investigations were still ongoing to uncover how the events unfolded on that particular night.

"We indicated to her that the case is a serious matter and should it be treated as a suicide case, she would be liable to go to court. The lady indicated that she only had muscle pains and was protecting her boyfriend at the same time.

"The boyfriend and his cousin had been arrested but after the lady changed her story, they were released," she stated.

According to the Spokesperson, the preliminary findings indicated that the 26-year-old had gone to visit her boyfriend, who was in the company of his cousin.

A scuffle, however, ensued after the woman discovered that her boyfriend was involved in another relationship. The police suspected that the lady was thrown off the second floor of the apartment by the boyfriend during the melee.

After preliminary findings were conducted, the detectives treated the matter as an attempted murder case and arrested the boyfriend and his cousin.

The boyfriend is an employee of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), while his cousin is a student at the University of Nairobi.

A video recording seen by Kenyans.co.ke, showed the woman growling in pain on the night she was allegedly pushed off the apartment.

In the video, the lady pleaded with the onlookers not to call an ambulance but to alert her brother who is based in Ruiru Sub-County, Kiambu County.

Shortly after, the lady was rushed to Neema Uhai Hospital for treatment.
