Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni called on Kenyans to donate sheep and goats during a tree planting session at former President Uhuru Kenyatta's Northlands farm on Saturday, April 15.

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke on Wednesday, April 12, Kioni noted that their followers had overwhelmingly reached out to the party to support the request and donate their animals.

Kioni noted that the move was not a means of trying to restore the lost animals but a symbol of solidarity with the former President.

"We have requested Kenyans to donate goats and sheep and you would be surprised by the number of people who are willing to provide them - not that they can replace the 1,000 animals that were slaughtered but just to let you know the way things are done," Kioni affirmed.

He claimed that elected leaders from the Kenya Kwanza administration orchestrated the raid at Uhuru's farm.

"The meeting happened on Sunday, March 26, at a Cabinet Secretary's residence. We know the elected leaders who took part in that meeting under the guidance of their party leader. This is something we know," Kioni alleged.

He noted that the former head of state kept abreast of the current political events and was still in his role as the chairman of the Azimio council.

"Uhuru stated that he was retired but not tired. It would be an act of irresponsibility for any leader of his experience to just sit idle without having any concern for a country that he led for 10 years.

"Whatever point he thinks he will come out and offer some advice, I'm sure he will. If Raila reached out to some advice, he could not withhold," he noted.

The invasion made headlines after non-locals raided the land during the Azimio demonstrations on March 27, 2023. Later that evening, a fire broke out on a farm section.

Reports alleged that the Kenyattas lost 1,400 sheep worth over Ksh70 million, with some sold for as low as Ksh1,000 by the roadside.

Questions were raised about the whereabouts of the police who arrived at the scene the following day. While responding to the issue, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki defended the police, arguing that they were engaged with the Azimio protestors at the time and could not respond swiftly to the invasion.

"A smaller gang attempted to storm a business in the Industrial Area of Nairobi, which is associated with a former Prime Minister of Kenya, the principal leader of the protests.

"While the quick action of the police and private security guards repulsed the Industrial Area criminals, action to protect the Ruiru property was not as quick owing to operational constraints caused by the protests taking place," read part of CS's statement dated March 29. 2023.
