Undercover Cops Deployed to Roysambu After Wealthy Fugitive Escapes Police Trap Twice

Officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) on Wednesday, April 12, issued an alert for a conman spotted in Mirema Drive in Roysambu.

According to a statement by the directorate, a manhunt had been launched for the suspect after he was accused of conning individuals in Australia, Uganda and Kenya.

DCI warned that the suspect had already escaped police traps twice and thus urged members of the public with any leads on his whereabouts to sound the alarm. 

The officers claimed that the man, believed to be a Sudanese national, had several identities and used different names when making transactions.

“Detectives based in Mombasa have launched a manhunt for an international serial fraudster with fraud cases stretching from Melbourne in Australia to Kampala, Uganda and Nairobi in the country’s capital.

"The vagabond has recently been spotted in Roysambu’s Mirema Drive where he is believed to be dwelling and has since evaded a police dragnet twice," the statement read in part.

DCI officers from Mombasa indicated they had received reports of the man committing offences in Banks in Melbourne, Australia and conning businesses in Nairobi.

“The self-styled millionaire with various names is wanted for depositing a bad cheque of Ksh599,950 in favour of a renowned supermarket and fraudulently obtaining 10 television sets of 55,” DCI alleged. 

The man was also accused of obtaining assorted steel rods from hardware in Bombolulu in Mombasa valued at Ksh842,000 by depositing a bad cheque of a similar amount at the hardware’s bank account.

The suspect nicknamed Big Papa, was additionally alleged to have gifted a TV host in Uganda a sleek car which was later discovered to have been stolen from Congo.

At the same time, he was wanted for failing to pay a bill of up to Ksh1.045 million at a 5-star hotel in Nairobi.

"The suspect, who has previously been arraigned at the Milimani law courts for forgery and being in the country illegally, has also been accused of obtaining services from top 5-star hotels in the city and sneaking out without paying. 

"In one such establishment along Chiromo Road, the man on the run failed to pay a bill of Sh1.045 Million after spending days at the luxury facility," the statement added.
