A teacher at Mukumu Girls High School in Kakamega County died on Thursday, April 13, after a short illness.
The family of teacher Juliana Mujema confirmed that the educator succumbed to multiple organ failure while undergoing treatment.
Mujema, who served as the boarding mistress, passed on while at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Reports further indicated that another teacher was still hospitalised.
The deceased exhibited symptoms similar to three students who succumbed after a disease outbreak at the institution.

Mujema was admitted at Lifecare Speciality Hospital in Eldoret town where she was receiving treatment for food poisoning symptoms.
She had been transferred from Oasis Hospital in Kakamega following a series of tests that indicated that her condition was worsening.
Until her untimely demise, Mujema served as a teacher and doubled up as a boarding mistress at the High School.
Mujema became the fourth person to die after a food poisoning outbreak that forced the government to close down the institution.
Kakamega County announced on Tuesday, April 11, that one more student had passed on, bringing the total number of learners who died from food contamination to three.
At 72 students were admitted to the Kakamega County General Hospital in late March, with stomach aches, vomiting and diarrhea.
An extensive examination by medical officers from Kakamega County did rule out Cholera but ascertained food poisoning.
Government officials led by Cabinet Secretary for Health Susan Nakhumicha Wafula visited the school and inspected the food and water that the students were consuming.
In Meru County, the public health department on Thursday, April 13, commenced an investigation into suspected case of food poisoning at Kaaga Boys’ High School.
At least 101 students from Kaaga Boys’ High School were treated for unidentified ailments after reporting cases of stomach aches.
While confirming the incident, Meru County Director of Public Health Paul Kimathi noted that experts were already testing water and foods samples that had been collected from the school.
