Fire broke out along Mombasa Road near Bobmil Industries Limited, a company that sells mattresses on Friday, April 21, at around 7 pm alarming motorists and pedestrians.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a representative from the company confirmed the incident noting that the Bobmil CEO and his entourage were headed to the scene.
The cause of the fire was yet to be established by the time of publishing.
"We have received the reports of the fire at the company. I was at home because today is a public holiday. My bosses and other company heads are heading to the scene to establish the damage," he told Kenyans.co.ke.
Our source further confirmed that only security guards were at the scene when the fire broke out.
A cloud of smoke engulfed the air as authorities attempted to establish the course of the fire.
Shortly after, several firefighting vehicles rushed to the area in an attempt to suppress the fierce fire and reduce the damage caused.
Following the accident, Kenyans called upon Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and other stakeholders in the county to intervene and put in place measures to prevent such incidents.
On March 31, Sakaja emphasised to Kenyans that the Emergency Response services in the county had improved, saving lives and property.
"I want to commend the emergency response services personnel for being quick in responding to incidents across the county. You guys are doing a good job, you take roughly 8-10 minutes," Sakaja stated.
On February 2023, the Standard Group building near Bobmil Industries Ltd along Mombasa Road was reported to be on fire, claims that caused a commotion among motorists.
However, the media house clarified that it was a fire drill led by the Nairobi City County in the presence of security officers.
