Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro sparked an uproar on Sunday, April 23, after he posted a picture of a warring Sudanese general.

The MP shared a photo of Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, the leader of the Rapid Support Forces, which is at war with the country's military force

He captioned the photo with his trademark phrase, “We are African, and Africa is our business.” RFS and the military are battling to control the country.

Reports indicate that RFS seeks to topple army chief Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan as the head of the war-torn country.

Differences between Burhan and Dagalo forced Kenyans to question Nyoro's post when Kenya had offered to mediate talks and aid the country in restoring sanity.

A section of Kenyans argued that Nyoro ought to have refrained from making controversial posts as President William Ruto had called for a ceasefire between RSF and the army.

“Kenya leads in solving the military stalemate which has so far led to more than 200 deaths, mostly civilians. It is not okay to make such posts,” a response to Nyoro's post read.

Others argued that Nyoro risked hampering peace efforts made by Ruto and other world leaders.

“How do you post a leader of one side, yet you know the commitment of your boss to call both warring parties to cease fire?” Nyoro faced backlash.

Earlier during the day, Foreign CS, Alfred Mutua, announced that the government was working closely with the Canadian government to evacuate Kenyans stuck in Sudan.

On Sunday, April 16, The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) chose Ruto to be among the Heads of State to mediate in the Sudan crisis.

Together with South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir and Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, they were tasked to help broker a ceasefire in Sudan.

"It is time to silence the guns in our region and continent so that we can focus on the urgent work of enabling our people to pursue opportunities and realise their aspirations in peace and tranquillity,” Kenya's President Ruto stated.

Meanwhile, Western capitals called for a return to a “civilian-led” transition, a directive that foreign affairs experts argued was a new strategy towards negotiating a new partnership between the military and the paramilitary wing.
